Calgary’s #1 Ceramic Coating Experience
Ceramic Coatings represent a major leap forward in the performance of ultra-durable paint protection, offering matchless levels of gloss, surface slickness, swirl and chemical resistance. Extensive real-world and laboratory tests prove that its thicker, glossier and harder structure offer unsurpassed abrasion and chemical protection.
Your vehicle’s paint consists of primer, a base coat and clear coat. The clear coat is what gives your paint its shine and depth, but it’s also the thinnest and most vulnerable to the elements in Calgary. Applying a protective layer to the clear coat that will absorb damage will keep your vehicle looking new.
There are generally four products you can apply to your clear coat, each with varying levels of protection and longevity. First, there is wax. Waxing leaves your paint shiny and protected, but only lasts for weeks. Paint Sealants work like wax but last much longer, 6-8 weeks. Both wax and sealants can be stripped off by chemicals or harsh detergents, and do not provide any scratch resistance. Ceramic Coatings on the other hand, usually contain Silica Dioxide, a extremely hard, glass-like polymer that when properly applied and maintained will last for years.
Ceramic Coatings are also incredibly Hydrophobic. Water will bead, and roll off any unlevel surface. This means your vehicle will stay cleaner for longer. The slick surface also prevents dirt and debris from sticking, this makes washing easier and less damaging to the paint. All these factors reduce fine scratches and swirls caused by washing.
The Auto Protectors have a range of chemically bonding coatings that are quartz-based through to composite coatings, each offering varying levels of protection and durability. Let’s take a more in-depth look at each of them below.
CRYSTAL SERUM ULTRA
Crystal Serum Ultra delivers the best swirl resistance of all the Gtechniq coatings. This product is a composite ceramic coating that, when applied, separates into two layers. The first layer measures 7h on the pencil hardness scale and bonds to the paintwork, so that it cannot be washed off. The second layer is a harder 10h layer which is an aggregate of 7nm and 20nm nanoparticles that offer superior chemical resistance, weather resistance and swirl resistance.
Since incorrectly applied Crystal Serum Ultra can only be removed using sand-paper, it is only available through a specially trained accredited Gtechniq detailer and is backed by a 9-year guarantee. The Auto Protectors is Calgary’s only Gtechniq Accredited Detail Shop.
Crystal Serum Ultra can be applied as either a stand-alone paint protection product, or for the best hydrophobic performance, it can be overcoated with Gtechniq EXO or C2.
CRYSTAL SERUM LIGHT
Crystal Serum Light is the prosumer version of the world-famous Gtechniq Accredited Detailer Crystal Serum Ultra. It offers 80% of professional Serum Ultra’s performance, but if applied incorrectly can be machine polished from your vehicle’s paintwork.
When it comes to adding gloss, resisting swirls, contaminant and dirt repellency, Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra and Serum Light are the pinnacle in paint protection. Serum Light forms an ultra-durable, high-gloss, slick to the touch, chemically bonding inorganic layer of 9h optically clear ceramic.
Once applied, gloss levels will remain in the upper 90th percentile for significantly longer when compared to traditional paint protection products, and cleaning your car will be a breeze. The high-density ceramic layer is resistant to chemicals ranging from pH2 – pH12. This characteristic also makes bonded contaminants such as tree sap, tar, and hard water spots, easy to remove.
Unlike mainstream wax and organic polymer coatings, Serum and Serum Light can resist much higher and lower temperatures. They resist temperatures as low as -40°c to as high as +250°c.
Crystal Serum Light comes with a 5-year guarantee when applied by a Gtechniq Accredited Detailer.
HALO enhances the performance of Paint Protection Film (PPF) and vinyl. It’s a chemically bonding, ultra-dense flexible film that becomes the permanent surface of the film – protecting it from the elements a car faces on a daily basis.
The density of the coating and its low surface energy improve dirt and water repellency of PPF or vinyl. It also helps to prevent staining from dirt ingression, as well as reducing yellowing caused by UV rays.
Overall, HALO keeps the PPF looking in a much better condition and makes it much easier for people to keep their car clean following PPF/ vinyl application.
Rigorous real-world and laboratory testing has proven HALO to be compatible with all types of gloss, matte, and satin vinyl and PPF. It is also proven to work on self-healing films.
